Cuarenta Y Uno

This is a modified version of the card game 41. On this modified version, the goal is to reach a number nearest to the birthday celebrant’s magic number (his/her date of birth, age, etc).

But since this is a Mexican party game, you need to make use of baraja cards instead of your typical deck.

Learn Mexican Hat Dance

What better time to learn Jarabe Tapatío (or Mexican Hat Dance) than on your Mexican party?!

Not familiar with it? We found this dance video which might refresh your memory a bit. As for your instructor, you could either hire somebody, commission a friend to teach your group on how to do the dance steps, or buy instructional videos (make sure that you practice before the big day), and just lead your group on stomping your feet.

Once your group is ready to go do some serious dancing, divide your guests into groups and have them show what they just learned. The (wo)man of the hour gets to judge the winning group.

Best Birthday Toast

As the title suggest, this game aims to find the group who's able to create the best birthday toast within 15-30 minutes. The (wo)man of the hour gets to pick the best birthday toast yet. If you want this to be more interesting, have each group/person do the toast in Spanish, as befits your chosen theme.

The winning piece definitely deserves to be repeated by everybody when you finally toast to the (wo)man of the hour’s health. Be sure to have some margarita or tequila at hand for this one.

Sombrero Toss

This is the Mexican party version of the popular game ring toss. However, instead of rings, sombreros will be used instead.  

You can choose to have numerous levels here - the level 2 pole will be 6 inches farther from the person doing the toss than the level 1 pole or just have a single level and 1 pole as target. Either way the idea is the same, the player with the most number of accurate tosses will win the game.
